“the beginning is the most important part of any work”— Plato, Republic, Book II; Socrates speaking, Benjamin Jowett translation (excerpt) source
Service is where we begin.
Portland Ridge LLC is the company behind Civic Relay. We’re building it in Central Florida to help organizations make everyday work easier and serve people well.
Why I’m building this
Tavoun Dixon · Founder, Portland Ridge LLCI’m Tavoun Dixon, founder of Portland Ridge LLC. I’m based in Central Florida, with five years of luxury service experience and more than ten years in hospitality. I’m also a business and finance student. That experience has shaped how I think about service: pay attention, respect people’s time, and take responsibility for the experience you create.
I started Portland Ridge to bring that same care to practical digital problems. I’m still at the beginning. I want to keep learning, build work I can stand behind, and earn trust through what I deliver.
“The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing.”— A popular paraphrase of Socrates’ reflection in Plato’s Apology, 21d Perseus text
We want technology to make demanding work easier without losing the care and judgment people deserve. Our roots are in Central Florida. As we grow, I want that growth to mean useful work for local organizations, collaboration with other small businesses, and opportunities for people around us.
“For me, giving of ourselves means contributing time, attention and skill to something that improves life beyond our own.”
